Palate

The powerfully structured body and fine tannins give lasting support to the bouquet on the palate and ensure a long, juicy finish.

Growing Conditions

- Elevation of vineyards: 260 to 300 m.a.s.l
- Hillside vineyards in Entiklar/Niclara
- Soil: highly loamy sand with a high limestone content dominate the loose and very deep morainic soil


Harvest

The grapes are harvested by hand.

Winemaking

Fermentation on the skins in concrete vats followed by malolactic fermentation and a 12-month aging period in small oaken barrels.
After a further six months in large wooden casks, the wine ages for another year in the bottle.

- 12 months in small oaken barrels (barrique)
- 6 months in large wooden casks
- 12 months maturation in bottle

Appearance

Dark, garnet-red.
