Nose
This unique terroir produces a Merlot which stands because of its power and dark fruitiness (lingonberries, blackberries), but at the same time retains its Alpine character (green tea, white pepper).
Palate
This fruit is joined on the palate by dense, velvety tannins. Delicate acidity gives the wine balance and an impressively long finish.
Growing Conditions
Kurtatsch - Brenntal, 220-300 m a.sl., south - east, steep slope; Very warm microclimate with temp. up to 40°C (104°F), strong sunlight; Red sandy and loamy soil with clay minerals and oxides.
Harvest
The grapes are harvested by hand.
Winemaking
Controlled temperature fermentation in rotary tanks and ageing in French barriques for 15 months, followed by ageing in large oak barrels, min. 1 year bottle ageing.
