Nose

In the nose, dark berries and Mediterranean herbs dominate (bay laurel, marjoram, lavender).

Palate

Its plump fruitiness is carried by fine-grained tannins. Notes of peppermint and stone pine bear witness to its Alpine origin.

Growing Conditions

220-350 m a.sl., south - east, steep slope; Warm microclimate with temp. up to 40°C (104°F), strong sunlight; Loamy, sandy and gravelly soil with dolomite.

Harvest

The grapes are harvested by hand.

Winemaking

Controlled temperature fermentation in rotary tanks and ageing in French barriques for 15 months, further 9 months in large oak barrels und min. 1 year bottle ageing. Only in years of optimal weather conditions do we make FREIENFELD.
The accompanying smooth tannins and invigorating acidity suggest its very long potential for ageing.
