Palate

The intensive ageing in wood gives the DATUS its velvety, spicy-peppery
wood notes. Its depth and complexity and the aroma of ripe red fruits make
the DATUS a very special pleasure, of which there are only 650 bottles.

Growing Conditions

The best conditions for the ripening of the Pinot Noir grapes are found on the steep slopes of Montan, in the southwest-facing sunny sunny position of the Glen fraction. At an altitude of 600 metres above sea level metres above sea level, the gravelly clay soil provides the ideal conditions for the vines, which are grown on wire frames, to flourish.

Harvest

The grapes for this Pinot Noir were harvested on 22 September 2018. The result is 650 numbered bottles.

Winemaking

Fermentation with the stems. Ageing in new barrique.
Our DATUS was literally „given“ to us by fate. What started as a night-time accident turned out to be one of the greatest strokes of luck in the history of our winery. It was around two in the morning and we were processing our best Pinot Noir. That‘s when it happened: the V-belt of the destemmer broke. Hectic broke out and we were close to despair. Then we got up the courage: if it was fate‘s will, then we would trust in it. We made the courageous decision to cellar the noble grapes together with the stems.

Appearance

An extremely multifaceted and balanced Pinot Noir that shines in a rich, ripe red.
