Nose

A strong scent of ripe cherries, black pepper, violets, black currants, liquorice.

Palate

Fruity on the palate, spicy in taste with notes of ripe currants and amarena cherries. Velvety tannins, fullness, persistent finish.

Growing Conditions

This autochthonous, rustic grape variety enjoys great popularity. The Meraner Lagrein, finds excellent climatic conditions on the southern slopes of Tscherms and is characterized by extraordinary fruitiness and flavor.

Winemaking

Careful selection of the berries. After 10 days of maceration, the young wine is refined.

Aging

French oak barrels for 17 months, 15% of which is new wood.

Appearance

Strong purple violet, almost black.

Food Pairing

Goes well with dark meat braised or fried, wonderful with venison, also with spicy hard cheese or a pumpkin cheesecake with caramelized apples.
