Growing Conditions

The Lagrein grapes are cultivated in a natural way with great diligence, passion and love. The vineyards are located on the south-exposed vineyard sites of the wine village S. Maddalena near Bolzano at an altitude of about 300 m above sea level and have a gravelly moraine soil. The vine stocks are grown according to the traditional South Tyrolean pergola-system. Due to the situation on the steep slopes a high amount of manual labour is needed.

Harvest

The grapes are picked at the beginning of October by hand.

Winemaking

The grapes are vinificated carefully and fermented in a slow and controlled manner in steel tanks. The new wine develops in small and big oak barrels and is bottled after two years.

The autochthon variety of Lagrein thrives on the warm and sunny south-exposed vineyards of the Eberlehof winery. This makes the wine particularly full-bodied, provided with elegant tannins. Only mature and healthy grapes are carefully harvested and vinificated. After a storage period of two years, the quality wine validly carries the label “Riserva”.

EberlehofAlto Adige DOC Merlot Selection

The variety of Merlot has its origins in the French wine area Bordeaux and has been cultivated in South Tyrol for more than 100 years now. This variety is a rarity in the assortment of the Eberlehof, since it is cultivated only to a small extent. After the controlled mash fermentation, the new wine matured in small oak barrels, which provides it with particular harmony and elegance.

EberlehofAlto Adige DOC S. Maddalena Classico

The S. Maddalena Classico is the main wine in the assortment of the Zisser family. The vines are partly old and grown in combination. The different variations of the grape variety Schiava and the variety of Lagrein are traditionally harvested, fermented and developed together.

EberlehofEberle's rosé wine

The Eberle's rosé wine is a composition of the two South Tyrolean autochthonous red grape varieties Schiava and Lagrein.
