KränzelhofTauris LagreinWine Description:
Ruby red with violet reflections. A powerful aroma of ripe cherries, black pepper, violets, blackcurrants, and licorice. Fruity on the palate, with spicy flavors and notes of ripe blackcurrant and cranberry. Velvety tannins, fullness, well-integrated acidity, and a lingering finish.
Vinification:
This Lagrein from Merano thrives on the south-facing slopes in Tscherms, where it benefits from excellent climatic conditions, resulting in exceptional fruitiness and spiciness. Carefully selected berries undergo a 10-day maceration fermentation, followed by 17 months of aging in used French oak barrels (second or third fill), with a small portion aged in new barrels.
This rustic, indigenous variety enjoys great popularity.
Pairing Suggestions:
Pairs well with dark meats, whether braised or roasted, excellent with venison, and also pairs beautifully with flavorful hard cheeses.
