The area in which they are grown is rich in minerals, the result of ice age sedimentation. Winemaking The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Gentle pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and aging on the lees in stainless steel tanks. Tasting notes & food matching The cultivation of the Chardonnay grapes has a long tradition at Girlan. Their dry, particularly fine and delicate aroma, with a full-bodied, elegant and lively palate make Chardonnay a much-appreciated aperitif wine and it is also served with hors d’oeuvres, fish and white meats.

Tasting notes & food matching Pinot Grigio has small bunches of rust-coloured, almost brownish grapes; sometimes Pinot Bianco and Pinot Grigio grapes can be found on the same vine and belong to the same family of Burgundy Pinots. It has a soft, delicate palate that is a nice accompaniment for asparagus, fish and delicate meats.

An intense bouquet of nettle and elderflower and a fresh lively flavour are typical qualities of this wine. The mineral nature and fresh acidity balance out in the aromas. They grow in different vineyards with an age between 15 and 20 years, at an altitude from 450 to 500 m above sea level. The vines are trained using the Guyot system. The growing area is rich in minerals, the result of ice age sedimentation. Winemaking The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation. Fermentation in oak barrels of 12 and 15 hl, followed by malolactic fermentation. Aging on the lees in oak barrells for 12 months, and 6 months in the bottle. Tasting notes & food matching An elegant frame and fine consistency, with intense fruity notes. An excellent structure that is flavoursome and mineral, with a persistent palate. We recommend serving this wine with refined dishes, including meats.

Production area Years of thorough research and countless tests with mini production volumes were the cornerstone for this wine. The grapes for this wine derive from 3 selected vineyards within the cru "Girlan" at 500 meters a.s.l. The vineyards are exposed to the east and west respectively and cover a total area of 1.2 hectares. The 20-25 year old vines grow on poor and gravelly soils, formed by morainic deposit on a subsoil of volcanic porphyry rock. Winemaking The fully mature grapes are harvested manually at mid of September and delivered in small containers. After destemming, the grapes are filled by gravity into the steel tanks for the alcoholic fermentation (25 days). Following the malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in barriques for 20 months. Finally, the wine is stored for furhter 18 months in the bottle. Tasting notes & food matching Intense ruby red with aromas of wild berries, sour cherries and pronounced herbal spice. The wine presents itself elegant and opulent at the same time. It has a complex structure with well-developed and juicy tannins. This wine accompanies main courses based on red meat, roast and game. It perfectly fits aged cheeses, too.

They grow in different vineyards with an age between 10 and 15 years. The other two thirds come from the Bassa Atesina - Cortaccia. The combination of mineral-rich gravel and clay soils gives this wine its unique character. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Aging on the lees for 8 months in stainless steel tanks without malolatic fermentation. Production area „Gschleier“ is certainly one of the best-known winegrowing areas of the Alto Adige. In fact, our vines are between 80 and 110 years old, which makes them unique. The vines grow at an altitude of 450 m above sea level, in lime, clay and gravel soils. The position and the exposure of the slope ensure optimal sunstroke which gives rise to a full wine with a great aging potential. Winemaking The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excesspressure on the grapes. Destemming and slow must fermentation (15-20 days) instainless steel tanks (gravity-flow). Malolatic fermentation and aging for 9 months in big wooden barrels and 6 months in the bottle. Tasting notes & food matching This Vernatsch is unique. It is elegant and full bodied with fruity tannins, accompanied by a marvellous flavour. A wine with exceptional ageing potential. Its characteristics make it perfect for serving with mediterranean foods.

The area in which they are grown is rich in minerals, the result of ice age sedimentation. And partly from vineyards located in the Bassa Atesina, with its sandy, warm and deep soils. These components are the basis for this Cuvèe full of character. Winemaking The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Destemming and slow must fermentation (12-15 days) in stainless steel tanks (gravity-flow). Malolatic fermentation and aging for 15 months partly in big wooden barrels, partly in barrique. After the blend 6 months aging in the bottle. Tasting notes & food matching The soft and velvety harmonious flavours of Lagrein and Merlot are further enriched with a delicate woody tone. The result is a pleasing, full-bodied red with a modern character that goes exceptionally well with grilled meats, game and spicy cheeses.

Production area For this wine we choose the best Pinot Bianco grapes from the hillside of the Oltradige at an altitude from 450 to 550 m above sea level, in well aired vineyards. The different combination of soils, from clay to lime and gravel is what gives this wine its unique character. Winemaking The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation. 50% is fermented at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, 50% is fermented in large oak barrels (50 hl). The part in oak barrels is continued with malolactic fermentation. Aging on the lees for 8 months. Tasting notes & food matching Pinot Bianco has compact bunches of small greenish grapes. It is the most white grape variety grown in the cru "Girlan". Thanks to its delicate, fresh and at the same time, full flavour, the Platt & Riegl Pinot Bianco is the perfect wine for a host of different occasions. It is an ideal accompaniment for hors d’oeuvres and fish dishes as well as being very popular as an aperitif.

Production area The grapes for this wine come from our best-suited and oldest vineyards in Mazon and Girlan. These vineyards are particularly suitable due to their microclimatic conditions as well as the age of the vines which they have proven over decades. The main part of the grapes derives from Mazzon, where we find deep clay and limestone soils. The second part derives from the oldest vineyards in Girlan, where we find a morainic deposit on volcanic porphyry rock. Winemaking The grapes are picked by hand and placed in samll containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. The grapes - 10% of them is vinified in form of whole clusters - was filled by gravity into the steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation (20-24 days). After the malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in barriques and small wooden barrels (12 hl). This is followed by an ageing of 8 months in big wooden barrels (70 hl). Finally, the wine is stored for further 8 months in bottle. Tasting notes & food matching Ruby red color with slight tones of grenadine and an intense and complex bouquet with notes of ripe fruit, cherry and maraschino. The wine presents itself elegant yet rich with a delicate taste and an excellent tannic framework and persistence. Particularly suitable for roast meets, game and spicy cheeses.

Production area In 2008 we began the search for a site that is ideally suited to the production of Pinot Noir. Years of thorough research and countless tests with mini production volumes finally led us to the perfect site, the Ganger monopole. It is located in Mazon, at between 360 and 380 meters above sea-level, with a southwesterly exposure and a slope of 3–5%, and has a unique microclimate and deep calcareous clayey soils. This is the home of our Pinot Noir Riserva Vigna Ganger, a wine as incomparable and unique as the site itself. Winemaking The fully mature grapes are harvested manually at mid of September and delivered in small containers. The grapes - one fifth of them is vinified in form of whole clusters - was filled by gravity into the steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation (25 days). Following malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for 20 months in barriques and then stored for further 18 months in the bottle. Tasting notes & food matching Color: Intensive ruby red; Aroma: Ripe fruits, cherries and sour cherries, wild berries, raspberries and a hint of marzipan. Taste: Elegant and refined, very emphatic, with good acidity and spicy notes. Optimum structure with soft and well balanced tannins Wine pairings: Elegant companion to main courses with red meats, roasts and game. Also ideal with mature cheeses.

Production area The grapes for this wine derive from our 3 Pinot Noir-growing cru "Girlan", "Mazon" and "Pinzon". The vineyards are located at an altitude between 380 and 530 meters a.s.l. and are characterized by morainic deposits on volcanic porphyry rock as well as by west-facing, loamy limestone soils. Winemaking The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. After destemming, the must is filled by gravity into the steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation takes place (18-20 days). After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in small (12 hl) and large wooden barrels (70 hl). Finally, the wine is stored for further 6 months in the bottle. Tasting notes & food matching Ruby red color with intense aroma of sweet and sour cherry as well as raspberry. This wine shows a lively acidity-framework and convinces with a juicy finish. Thanks to its velvety structure, it goes well with a wide variety of meat dishes.

Production area All of the grapes for the production of this wine come from a single vineyard at Montiggl near Lake Monticolo. The specific characteristics of the vineyard contribute to the development of noble rot, which makes it possible to grow a truly great sweet wine. Winemaking The grape are harvested in end of November. The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. After a short period of maceration, gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation. Fermentation in small oak barrels for 6 months. Aging for 15 months in small oak barrels. Tasting notes & food matching The aroma of dried fruits, ripe apricots and quince are behind the symphony of scent nuances that is completed with a fresh touch of citrus fruit. To the palate, this wine is soft, full and has an accentuated sweetness that persists in the after-taste. The late harvested Pasithea Oro is a dessert wine to accompany cakes, but it also goes well with herby, matured and spicy cheeses. A totally unique pleasure.

Production area Moscato Rosa is grown on the hillside vineyards of Girlan at an altitude ranging from 400 to 500 m above sea level in well aired vineyards. The soil is rich in minerals, the result of ice age sedimentation. Winemaking The grape have been harvested at the end of the year 2017. The grapes are harvested in small crates, in which they are left to dry and their natural concentration of sugars increases. Mid-January after 2 weeks of maceration on skins the grapes are pressed. The final fermentation that follows is very slow; the high sugar content means it ends spontaneously. Aging for 8 months in small oak barrels. Tasting notes & food matching The bouquet is a mix of roses, ripe woodland strawberries, red currants and a spicy note of cinnamon. The flavour is soft, with light tannins, a sweet fullness in the mouth and a persistent after-note. A good match when served with fruit desserts and cakes.

After blending and bottling, the wine is aged for other 9 months before it is released as Riserva. Tasting notes & food matching An elegant frame and fine consistency, with intense fruity notes. Winemaking The vineyards have an average age of 30 years. The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Destemming and slow must fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Malolatic fermentation and aging in big wooden barrels for 5 months. Tasting notes & food matching The delicate character of the grape varietal "Vernatsch" and the notable concentration of velvety tannins make this wine unique. Our selection of the best vineyards, as well as a restrictive limitation on quantity, gave Fass Nr. 9 a pioneering role from the sixties - times without DOC regulations. It is an all-round red and particularly recommended with tyrolean dishes like dumplings, ravioli, roast meats, speck and cheese.
