A brief history

The Eberlehof winery is located in the classic wine-growing area of the S. Maddalena wine above Bolzano (South Tyrol - Italy). The winery was first mentioned as a winery in 1312. This traditional farmhouse has been in the possession of the Zisser family since 1668. Tomas Zisser and his wife Margit work on the vineyard and the wine cellar together with their children Christian and Lukas. Grandfather Horst and grandmother Lisi also support them.
The wines are produced of the own grapes, following an old family tradition, and according to modern cellar techniques. The vines are partly old and grown in combination. They are cultivated in a natural way with diligence and love.

Three holiday apartments at the Eberlehof winery offer any kind of convenience and a perfect ambience to relax and feel at home. A unique holiday experience is made possible by the advantages of the Bolzano Card, a swimming pool in the summer months and the chance to gain an insight into the craft of wine-making. During a wine tasting with a guided tour through vineyards and cellars you´ll get more familiar with the world of South Tyrolean wine.

Meet The Winemakers

  • Christian Zisser

Christian studied viticulture and oenology at the Geisenheim university in Germany and graduated successfully. After several internships in renowned wineries and cellars in South Tyrol and Austria, he joined the family business in autumn 2018. He brings new techniques and ideas to the winery. With the 2019 vintage, he brought out the white wine Mitterberg bianco IGT Blaturum, which is made from the old, historical South Tyrolean grape variety Blaterle. The special about this selection white wine is, that the must is fermented in steel and barrique barrels and the wine is stored on the fine yeast with bâtonnage for several months.

  • Tomas Zisser

Tomas attended the high school for agriculture in San Michele all'Adige in Italy and learned a lot about agriculture, viticulture and winemaking. His father Horst passed his experience on to him to make a great wine from the native grapes Schiava and Lagrein. Even today the traditional winemaking and wines, which reflect the terroir of S. After the controlled mash fermentation, the new wine matured in small oak barrels, which provides it with particular harmony and elegance.
