Traditionally called Lagrein “Kretzer”, after a wickerwork sieve once used to separate the skins from the juice, this wine is one of the world’s finest rosés: full-bodied, unashamedly fruity, refreshing and with vibrant acidity.

Grown in cool, high-elevated vineyards, this delicately aromatic, early-ripening white variety has become an Alto Adige speciality. This wine reveals much of its Riesling parentage: pale yellow in colour, tinged with green nuances; fresh, flowery and gently aromatic on the nose, with a discreet hint of elderflower mingled with peach and Muscat; pleasantly citrusy and crisp on the palate.

The wine Pfefferer is named after the Pfefferer grape, a particular variety of the Muscat grape that in the Alto Adige dialect has always been called Pfefferer. Probably because the spicy aroma is reminiscent of pepper, since Pfeffer in German means pepper. The Pfefferer has delicate fruit aromas reminiscent of Muscat, youthful freshness – an excellent aperitif wine. The wine is unashamedly aromatic and elegant, dry, youthful and zesty with grapey fruit and lots of freshness.

Once the Vernatsch grapes become fully ripe in these sun-drenched sites the grape stalks become reddish in colour and local growers call them “Roatfiassler” (“red-legged”) in the local dialect. Hence the name. Originally from Bordeaux, Merlot has been producing impressive wines in South Tyrol for well over a century. Full, vivid ruby in colour, the nose shows plums, spice and forest berry fruits, while on the palate it is full-bodied and elegant, medium-rich, round, ripe with the smooth tannins typical of the Merlot grape, moving on to a long, full finish.

Cabernet is among South Tyrol’s true aristocratic varietal wines and has been cultivated here for over a century. Full dark ruby in colour with a concentrated aroma of blackcurrant and blackberry, rich on the palate with assertive, supple tannins, long with fresh fruit on the finish.

Bright pale yellow colour with a green nuance, powerful aromas of elder and acacia flower, passion fruit, lime intert wined with herbal notes to the nose. The palate is complexed with hints of white currant, melon and stone fruit, underpinned by zesty acidity and a delicate flinty aftertaste.

Lagrein is one of Alto Adige’s native varieties. Very dark garnet in colour with violet reflexes, and an aroma of violets, black woodland berry fruits (bilberry and blackberry) with hints of dark chocolate; mouth-filling and spicy on the palate with ripe, velvety tannins and a long long finish. Lagrein unique character has gained it a favourable place among Italy’s top wines and among the attentive consumer around the world.

Medium-intense garnet; red colour a seductive bouquet of cherry, damsons, red fruits and cinnamon; medium-rich on the palate, supple and luscious with flavours of black and red berries, velvety tannins and discreet hints of oak spice.

The colour is impressively deep, almost black, tinged with violet; open on the nose with concentrated aromas of violets, blackberries and black cherries, all well-integrated with savoury flavours, coffee and dark chocolate. A powerful and supple wine with assertive, youthful tannins and superb length.

Traditionally the finest Vernatsch wines are made with grapes from a mixture of very mature Klein-, Mitter- and Grau-Vernatsch vines, as evidenced in this deliciously fruity example: bright, pale red in colour with an intense fresh aroma of summer berry fruits, a hint of morello cherry, mild and full on the palate with an attractive bitter aftertaste.

From an indigenous grape variety to Alto Adige, this wine has a dark garnet colour with violet nuances, a bouquet of woodland fruits (blackberry and bilberry), flowers (violets), cinnamon, vanilla and morello cherries; mouth-filling on the palate, it has velvety tannins and a long last finish.

Deep red in colour; with a bouquet of ripe berry fruit, cassis and a hint of well integrated oak; black cherries and spices on the palate, underpinned by assertive but supple tannins; full-bodied, fine balanced, rich and long.

This lusciously sweet “passito” is rich and golden in colour with a concentrated aroma reminiscent of lychees and other tropical fruits and spices (ginger, cinnamon and cloves); opulent on the palate, ambrosial with mouth-cleansing acidity to balance the opulent sweetness and a monumental finish.

Chardonnay is the classic white Burgundy grape variety and has been producing fine wines in South Tyrol for well over a century. This enormously popular wine is pale yellow with green reflexes in colour, delicate and floral in aromas. The flavour is infused with hints of exotic fruits reminiscent of pineapple, and mango; on the palate it is a concentration of mellowness and vivacity with classic mineral notes and crisp acidity.
