Nose

Palate

strong but fine-grained tannins; powerful with a lot of smoothness, fine tobacco and licorice notes on the finish, elegant finish

Growing Conditions

Gently sloping, south-east facing vineyard at 220 – 260 meters above sea level at St. Josef, very warm micro-climate, loamy, gravelly weathered chalk.

Winemaking

Fermentation in large wooden casks with a 3-week extended maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation and 12 months of ageing in barrique, followed by light filtration and bottling.

Goes well with a juicy beef tagliata with arugula and parmesan shavings, venison fillet with walnut crust and red cabbage, braised beef roulades with potato noodles and flavorful cheese.
