A brief history
The Josmoarhof is located in Galsaun in Vinschgau, a district of the town of Kastelbell. However, the grapes for the wine are grown in the so-called Pfaffenegg, at 600 m above sea level.
Both the colloquial name of this visibly prominent corner of the Vinschgau Sonnenberg and its widely known reputation as a perfect location for top-quality wine, particularly exposed to the sun and protected from the storms of the valley floor, can be traced back to the 13th century. The monks of the monastery in Karthaus (Schnalstal) already sourced their fine wines here at that time.
