Nose
Straw-coloured with tinges of green, Moriz smells of pear, citrus and dry fruits with light notes of butter.
Palate
Fresh and rich on the palate, this Pinot Bianco boasts a full body with matching minerality, and a succulent and lengthy finish.
Growing Conditions
Moriz Pinot Bianco is sourced from vineyards between 400 and 600 meters above sea level on calciferous gravel with loam. The climate is characterised by an extreme interplay between sunny days influenced by the Mediterranean climate and cool nights marked by the cold downslope winds. The name of this wine comes from Saint Maurice, the patron saint of Sella, a small hamlet above Tramin.
Winemaking
The grapes for this wine are harvested in small bins and then gently pressed off to steel tanks where the must ferments at controlled temperature (19 ° C) without malolactic conversion.
Aging
Maturation follows mostly in small stainless-steel tanks and 20 % in big oak casks of 30 - 40 hl.
